Working with 3D Models

  1. Go to Site Structure.

  2. Click the filter icon image.pngand select Models to display only the list of models.

3D Models can be visualized in the Site Structurearrow-up-right and Mark & Measurearrow-up-right. Adjust the colour and visibility of the entire model or its parts to enhance clarity and visibility. The Cropping Tool in Mark & Measure mode allows users to create precise slices, offering a clear view of any deviations between the model and the point cloud.

Changing the colour of the model and its entities

  1. Go to Site Structure.

  2. Click the colour wheel of the model.

  3. Select a colour for that model and/or its entities.

Expanding to view the model and its entities

Click on the arrow to the left of the name of the model to show all of its entities. Here you hide entitles of specific parts of a model, to better focus on other areas.

Comparing the model to a point cloud in Mark & Measure

  1. In the Site Setup menu, make sure the model visible by clicking on the eye icon next to its name.

  2. Go to Site Structure.

Note: Make the model more visible by picking a colour that stands out.

  1. NavVis IVION will overlay the point cloud and the model.

  2. Open the Mark & Measure tool from the side menu in your NavVis IVION instance.

Measuring between a point cloud and the model

  1. Crop the area with the slice you need.

  2. Measure with the free, horizontal, and vertical tools.

  1. Once you exit the cropping mode and select the measurement from the menu, you will have the option to hide it, change its color, add it to a folder, share it, or delete it.

Toggling the Crop Model Setting in Mark & Measure

  1. From the Mark & Measure tool.

  2. Click on the settings icon on the top right of the screen to turn the Crop Model setting on or off.

  3. Enabling this setting will allow you to crop the model as well as the point cloud. If you wish to crop only the point cloud, disable this toggle.

Changing between 2D and 3D views

To switch between 2D and 3D views click the buttons at the top right of the screen.

Model validation often needs a quick top-down view, such as checking an entire floor or site layout at a glance. With this feature, you can easily verify the model's alignment against the scanned data.

Sharing the 3D Model

To share and collaborate on the 3D model with other people, copy the URL of the page.

Viewing 3D models in the 2D map

To compare a 3D model to a 2D map, open the Site Structure menu and filter by Models.

Pick a specific color for your model.
